Martí Franch (Barcelona, 1971) is the founder and director of the landscape architectural studio EMF in Girona. In 2016, he received an honorary doctorate by the University of Greenwich (London). It was the first time that a Spanish landscape architect was awarded this distinction by a foreign university. It is no coincidence that he received this title from England as landscape architecture is seen as a very prestigious discipline in this country. The University of Greenwich, where Martí Franch graduated in landscape architecture and design in 1998, awards this title to the alumni who have achieved international recognition and therefore are role models for current students. As regards Martí Franch, he has been described by the Harvard Design Magazine as “one of the most important contemporary landscape architects of his generation” who, despite his young age, is already very successful and has been awarded several of the most prestigious prizes in his field.
